PIR Duct – Introduction & Technical Overview

PIR Duct – Introduction & Technical Overview

PIR (Polyisocyanurate) Pre-Insulated Ducts are advanced HVAC air distribution ducts made from rigid PIR foam panels laminated with aluminum foil on both sides. They provide integrated duct + insulation in a single system, offering superior thermal efficiency, fire safety, and lightweight construction compared to conventional G.I. sheet ducts with external insulation.

Technical Details

  • Core Material: Rigid PIR foam, density ~45–50 kg/m³
  • Thermal Conductivity (λ): 0.021–0.024 W/m·K (excellent insulation)
  • Operating Temp Range: -30°C to +80°C (up to 110°C for some grades)
  • Fire Performance: Class 0/Class 1 as per BS 476 (low smoke emission, halogen-free)
  • Panel Thickness: 20mm, 25mm, 30mm, 40mm (as per design)
  • Pressure Resistance: Up to +2000 Pa / -1000 Pa
  • Air Leakage Class: C/D as per DW 144 / SMACNA
